| JKAACL honours Ghulam Mohd | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 26 Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) organized a function to honour Ghulam Mohd, renowned Dogri folk singer for receiving prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi award for the year 2007-08. Khalid Hussain, renowned Punjabi short story writer and scholar was the chief guest while Director, Doordarshan Kendra, Jammu, Mr. Mahesh Chopra presided over. Secretary, JKAACL Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi said that this is a great honour and matter of pride for J&K state that S.N.A. has been conferred to folk singer from our state. Mr. Mahesh Chopra while giving his presidential remarks said that Ghulam Mohd has contributed 64 years of his life for the Dogri folk singers. He said that he is a popular singer especially for his Bheint “Jota Jagdeian” in Dogri. Khalid Hussain said that the J&K state has lot of talent in every field of art, culture and music. The only need is to discover them from the remote areas of the state. He said that Academy is doing all possible efforts in this regard and with the result our state has brought two consequent awards for the year 2006-07 and 2007-08 by Mr. Syed Iqbal Malangami and now by Ghulam Mohd respectively. A shawl and memento was presented to Mr. Ghulam Mohd by the chief guest. |
