| Baig calls for continuous monitoring of development projects | | Asks DDCs to furnish fortnightly status report to Planning deptt | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Dec 26 Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Muzaffar Hussain Baig has asked the District Development Commissioners to furnish status reports of ongoing development within 15 days to the Planning department. “There should be strict monitoring of physical and financial status of each scheme and ensuring reasonable pace of work”, he asserted. Deputy Chief Minister was addressing a meeting of district officers of Kashmir division held here today to review developmental projects, presently under execution. The meeting was attended by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Mr. Mehboob Iqbal, all District Development Commissioners of Kashmir Division, Chief Engineers of various Engineering wings and other senior officers. Calling for a close coordination and rapport between various executing agencies engaged in the development process, Mr. Baig underlined the importance of collective and coordinated functioning for the success of various developmental schemes undertaken by the government. Baig impressed upon the officers to keep Planning Department abreast with every detail of development schemes adding that status reports should be preferred to the department after every 15 days. “This will ensure accountability and timely completion of works”, he added. He directed the District Development Commissioners to identify the projects where the pace of progress was slow and furnish a detailed report about the same. “Planning and Development Department will also send a team of experts to find out the reasons behind unnecessary delay and slow pace of work in some projects”, he added. The Deputy Chief Minister further instructed the administration to ensure proper medical facilities to people and attendance of doctors and para medical staff in various hospitals across the division. “They should ensure that every hospital is having adequate heating arrangements, availability of medicines and critical equipments are properly functioning”, Mr. Baig said. He said the supply of electricity should be maintained properly and curtailments schedule strictly adhered to. The administration be fully geared upto meet the requirements of power, drinking water, medicare etc. during ensuing Muharram. He said there should be no complaint from public about the distribution of water supply for want of fuel to energize water drawing generators. While directing the administration to provide the timber to the mosques, Mr. Baig said that adequate timber should be kept available for the purpose. He further directed the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir to hold a separate meeting with District Development Commissioners for Muharram arrangements. Referring to the historic and innovative development policy of the coalition government, Mr. Baig said “during last five years path breaking decisions and unprecedented measures have been taken to catapult the State’s development scenario and achieve remarkable economic growth. Peace initiatives and confidence building measures taken by the coalition government have written new chapters of tranquility in the State”. Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister interacted with a deputation of people from Beerwa, Budgam led by MLC Mr. Bilal Lodhi. He assured the deputation that all the genuine demands would be looked into and addressed properly. |
