Jora for expeditious completion of power projects

Minister for Power Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora today chaired a meeting of Officers to review the progress of infrastructure development works of transmission system in Jammu province taken up under Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan.
It was informed in the meeting that various projects involving Rs 611. 23 crore are being executed under the programme, which include 3 Grid Stations of 220/132 KV at Barn, Bishnah and Ramban with total installed capacity of 760 MVA. In addition, 12 Grid Stations of 132/33 KV with total capacity of 590 MVA are also to be constructed. Augmentation of 3 Grid stations envisaging additional capacity of 110 MVA are also to be taken up. To connect these Grid Stations 283 Ckt. Km of 220 KV transmission line and 619.74 Ckt. Km of 132 KV transmission line shall also be covered under the scheme, the meeting revealed.
It was also given out that an amount of Rs 114.64 crore has been spent and work on almost all the Grid Stations has been taken up. Addition of 140 MVA at 132/33 KV level and 100 MVA at 132/66 KV has already been achieved by installation of transformers at Bari-Brahamna-II, Barn, Kathua and Samba Grid Stations. Another 50 MVA capacity shall be commissioned at Hiranagar by the end of this month. It was also informed that 37.4 km long 220 KV transmission line from Barn-Kishenpur and 35 km. long 132 KV transmission from Rajouri to Draba shall be completed during the current financial year.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister impressed upon the engineers to expedite the progress of evaluation of the tenders including vetting by the consultant agency and finance wing of PDD so that the contracts are finalized and allotted at the earliest. He also directed the engineers to take up execution job with full dedication and achieve the targets within the time frame so that the benefits percolate to public at the earliest.
Among others, Special Secretary PDD Mr. Khurshid Ahmad Shah, Chief Engineer System & Operation Jammu, Mr. R. K. Seli and senior engineers of the department attended the meeting.
