| Praja Parishad demands constitution of State Minority Commission | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 26 Coming down heavily on State government for depriving the minorities of state from rightful benefits, Praja Parishad Jammu and Kashmir has stressed upon the government to constitute the Minority Commission which it had promised in common minimum programme. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, President Praja Parishad Chander Mohan Sharma said that government is deliberately delaying the constitution of Minority Commission in the state in order to expose the minorities particularly Hindus to all sorts of trouble. "All the grants meant for the welfare of minorities are being diverted for the schemes benefiting the majority community as a result of which the minority people of state are suffering in every respect," he said. The state of Jammu and Kashmir is receiving liberal funds of Centre for the welfare schemes of minorities but the authorities at the helm of affairs divert all these funds for the benefit of Majority community, he said. "Minorities of state are the worst sufferers due to discriminative attitude of government and this is a deliberate attempt of state govt. to deprive the minorities of their benefits," he said. Expressing commitment to fight for the rights of minorities, he said that government should declare the Hindus and other minority communities as minorities in Jammu and Kashmir as recommended by the 3rd National Commission for Minorities. On the occasion he revealed that Praja Parshad is going to contest at thirteen constituencies in Jammu district, two in Kathua District and one each at Reasi and Udhampur. |
