| Scene at bus stand as cops take ultras to lunch | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 26 If the Police were caught napping, things would have been different. The cops were seen lunching with the guirellas at a public place, thought withno utterior motives but the public order was clear at risk. The breach of security was seen when a groupt of militants, being taken from Kotbhalwal central jail to Kupwara for their court apopearances, when they halted at a restauratn in Bus stand area for lunch and misbehaved with media men when they were caught on cameera. Tension mounted in teh area for some time as gun totting police men created having lunch with militants outside bus stand area. The police party had earlier arrived here from Kashmir to take custody of 10 under trails from the Kotbhalwal . The under trails were to be present in the court of sessions judge Kupwara in connection with the hearing of pending court cases. Official sources said, after taking the custody of these under trials from Kotbhalwal authorities the police party reached general bus stand and decided to have lunch at one of the local eatry a team of media persons spotted presence of few handcuffed people along with heavy group of policemen in the area. . On inquiry it was realized that police party from Kupwara was here to take these under trials for court appearance to Kupwara.Manager of the restaurant Mushtaq Ahmed narrating his plight told reporters, the group of policemen and few others who came along with them after eating their food moved out without paying their bill in toto. He said he later realized that the police team was accompanying militants on their way to Kashmir. Commenting on the alleged security breach, a senior police officer said, “Whenever police party is given responsibility of transporting militants to distant locations they make alternate arrangements for food and other things. He said in this particular case incharge of the police party should have avoided taking a group of 10 militants to a public place in the heart of the city as it involves risk.The police officer said," if incharge of the police party had decided to halt the bus at a distant location outside the city it would have been less risky. Another senior police officer said in Jammu and Kashmir cases have happened where militants managed to escape from the police custody breaking the security cordon. He said despite presence of large number of police men with them sympathizers of the militants often turn out to be smart people when it comes to rescuing them from the police custody. A senior police officer when contacted he explained the reasons for the incident and said that the prisoners have to appear in the courts of the J&K and on that time they have to take the meal from outside but they have adequate measures of full proof security for them so that they could not be escaped from the grip of the team deployed to them. He further added that it is the daily routine but today’s incident created much more hype in the area. |
