Jammu | Dec 27
BJYM activists today took out a massive protest march, starting from Mubark Mandi and after passing through Panjtirthi, Chowk Chabutra, Jain Bazar, Link Road, Purani Mandi, Old Hospital Road, culminated at City Chowk, where effigy of the State Chief Minister was burnt by the morcha activists for his total failure to formulate a clear cut youth policy and control the price of the essential commodities.
The protest march was led by BJYM East Mandal President Sanjeev Gupta.
Addressing the activists, Sanjeev Gupta expressed anguish over the increased unemployment which is increasing day by day in the state and the inflation which has crossed the danger mark. He expressed shock over the day today problems being faced by the people. He said no steps have been taken to give healing touch to the wounds of the common masses. The Government must have created employment opportunities for the educated unemployed youth, but it is a state of affairs that only the blue eyed persons are being given every facility, like appointments in Govt departments. He said if such an exercise continues the day is not far when youth will turn violent on roads and will protest against present regime. The Youth leader alleged that present Congress- PDP government has failed on all levels. There is increase in poverty, unemployment, corruption, malpractices in Government departments. He said that there are a large number doctors, engineers, agriculture graduates and other highly qualified youth without jobs in the State. These youth are getting depressed and no concrete policy is being adopted by the Government to provide them job opportunities. Many of them are waiting for the last so many years and are going to be over aged. He said Government should announce special package for the unemployment youth of the State.
He, on this occasion, demanded formulation of a Youth Policy and immediate steps to check the prices of essential items.
Others who participated in the protest march included Rajesh Gupta, N.D. Rajwal, Vipin Shastri, Sanjay Mehra, Bittu Pradhan, Sourab Gupta, Monu Gupta, Shashi Kapoor, Ajay Sharma, Rakesh Dogra, Panchal Sharma and others.
