| Sports instrumental for social harmony, brotherhood: Prem Sagar | | | Early Times Reporter

Sports plays significant role in mobilizing the youth to transform their personality into productive, responsible, confident and healthy citizens, which is vitally required for progress and prosperity of nation.
This was stated by Minister of State for Revenue, Planning and Parliamentary Affairs Mr. Prem Sagar Aziz after kick starting the 2 nd Christmas Gold Cup Football Tournament at M.A Stadium here today.
The tournament has been organized by All Jammu and Kashmir Christians Welfare Association under the aegis of J&K Football Association.
Mr. Prem Sagar called upon the youth to take active part in sports activities for maintaining good physical and mental health. He said sports imbibes sense of discipline, unity and harmony among the youth and enriches bonds of communal living and universal brotherhood.
The Minister appreciated the efforts of Christian Association for organizing such activities and asked them to organize similar events in remote and far-flung areas to explore the hidden talent of youth there as well.
In all, 16 teams from in and outside the state would participate during the tournament. The final match will be played on 6 th January, 2008 that would be telecast live on sports channel.
Among others, Ex. Minister Mr. Ram Paul, Ex. Legislator Mr. M. S. Gill and sports lovers were present on the occasion to witness the inaugural match. |
