| U-19 cricket: J&K to meet Haryana for third place after loss in semis | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 27 Jammu and Kashmir today lost to Rajasthan by 163 runs in the semi-finals of the Cooch Behar under-19 cricket tournament played at IOF stadium Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Chasing a target of 311 runs, J&K lost all their wickets for 148 runs just before lunch on the fourth and last day of the match. All rounder Pervez Rasool was the highest scorer with 52 runs. Beginning their innings from overnight score of 110 for five in 31 overs, J&K failed in their attempt to bring the score near to the target and the whole side bowled out for 148. Earlier, in their second innings, Rajasthan made 224 runs in 65 overs. Vice-captain, Mohd Muddassar remained the most successful bowler who took record six wickets for 59 runs. Parvez Rasool bagged three while Manik Gupta and Adnan Nazir shared a piece each. Now, J&K shall be playing for the third place against Haryana at Jaipur on January two. “The boys have been told to play a do or die battle against an equally good side of Haryana to bring home the third place,” team manager, A H Kazmi told Early Times on telephone. |
