| Home guards seek regularization, benefits at par | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 28 The All Jammu and Kashmir Home Guards Welfare Association today took out a protest rally which passed through main city bazaars and demanded the regularisation of their jobs on the pattern of the Special Police officers (SPOs) of the Jammu and Kashmir police. The protesters led by Kamala Sharma were shouting slogans and holding placards highlighting their demands. Interacting with media persons after the protest rally Kamala Sharma said,” we are still waiting for the chief Ministers response towards our genuine demands”. She said the successive governments in the state were doing injustice with them. “We were employed much earlier than the Special Police officers, but till date our services had not been regularized”. She said, “the SPOs were enrolled in 1998 whereas the home guards were enrolled in 1992. The state government has given all employment benefits to SPOs but home guards are still running from pillar to post and awaiting justice . Referring to home guard cadre in other states, Kamala Sharma said in other states, home guard is a regular force and we should be given benefit at par with them. Reminding Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad about previous commitments made with them she said our Chief Minister had earlier promised in 2006 that our services would be made regular and there would be an enhancement in our wages, but nothing in this regard has been done till date. |
