| Taj appeals people to register their complaints in consumer courts | | National Consumer Day celebrated | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 28 Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din has said that government is determined to provide quality essential commodities to the people of the state at reasonable and affordable prices and efforts are on to eliminate profiteers and black marketers so that consumer rights are protected. Mr. Taj was addressing an interactive session on consumer rights and duties, in connection with National Consumers Day organized by Jammu Consumer Council (JCC), in collaboration with CAPD department Jammu at Hotel Asia yesterday evening. Giving resume of the Public Distribution System, Mr. Taj said that there are 6,000 outlets functioning in the state, providing essential commodities to people like rice, atta, sugar, K.Oil and LPG in a smooth and transparent manner. He said that the department of CAPD is functioning with sound annual turnover of Rs.12, 000 crore earning a revenue of Rs. 16 crore on sale of gunny bags. Appealing people to register their complaints in consumer courts, the Minister said that business practices, like black marketing, hoarding and adulteration could be controlled by joint cooperation and coordination of people and government. Secretary General JCC, Mr. J. S. Chouhan presented welcome address and President Mr. Ved Bhasin presented presidential remarks and Secretary of JCC, Nirmal Kamal presented vote of thanks. Vice President JCC Jatinder Bakshi also addressed the function and gave presentation of theme. Mr. Khalid Hussain Member JCC was also present in the function. |
