| CB presents challan against accused in cheating case | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 28 Crime Branch has presented a challan against accused Sandeep Gupta son of Bal Krishan Gupta of Ashok Nagar Nai Basti, for cheating and betraying the complainant by issuing two different cheques that were dishonored by the Bank, in the Munisif Court Jammu for judicial determination. Acting on a complaint from Ved Bushan son of Thakur Dass Seth of Gandhi Nagar Jammu, wherein it was alleged that the alleged accused Sandeep Gupta has cheated and betrayed the complainant by issuing two different cheques for an amount of Rs.30,000 and Rs.70,000 which were both dishonored by the Bank of Baroda, the Crime Branch registered a case FIR NO 07/06 for in-depth investigation. IG Crime and Railways said today that during investigation it came to surface that accused Sandeep Gupta along with his wife Anju Gupta was running Tuition Centre under the name and style as ‘City College’. In the year 2004, the accused assured the complaint that he would manage admission of his son in DY Patil College of Architecture Pune and mutually decided the deal at Rs.2.65 lakhs, of which Rs. one lakh was to be paid in advance. Accordingly, the complainant paid Rs.50,000 to the accused and another Rs.50,000 in July . After receiving the advance payment, the accused called the complainant and his son to Pune for admission and on inquiry from the college it was revealed that the admission had already closed. The accused, who too was present, assured the complainant that he will return his money at Jammu but didn’t return the same till February 2005 and in the meantime some of the tuition centres of the accused got closed. He finally handed over two post dated cheques to the complainant which were returned back by the bank authorities as there was no amount in the said account, the IG said. He further said that on the basis of the investigation conducted by the Crime Branch, case was closed as ‘ challan’ against the accused and charge sheet of the case was presented before Munisif Court, Jammu for judicial determination. |
