| JeM Comdr killed in Kashmir encounter | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Dec 29 Jammu and Kashmir police and army today claimed to have gunned down a commander of Jaish-e-Mohammed in Pulwama, while two militants reportedly managed to escape from the spot. An official spokesman quoting ASP Pulwama said that police and troops of 44 RR cordoned off Ladkigam Drubgam and started house to house searches. Sources claimed that three militants took shelter in a residential house and opened fire on the search party. The fire was returned and in the ensuing gun battle one militant was killed, while two other managed to flee from the spot. The house, where the militants were hiding, owned by Muhammed Abdullah Ganai alias Abu Chowkidar s/o Ismail was also suffered partial damage in the encounter. Police identified the slain militant as Abdul Gani Dar alias Jangvi S/O Habibullah Dar of Frisipora Pulwama, an "A" category militant who was wanted in several militancy related cases. One AK Rifle and some ammunition have been recovered from the site of encounter. |
