Azad rushes to spot, orders immediate widening of road
Releases Rs. 11 cr for the purpose

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 23
Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad immediately after hearing the news about tragic death of 15 persons in a bus accident on Rajouri-Darhal road rushed on the spot. He was accompanied by Minister of State for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak, Vice Chairman Pahari Advisory Board Mr. Shabir Ahmad Khan and other state and district level officers.
The 23 kms Rajouri-Darhal road stretch is one of the worst roads which has become cause of several and repeated accidents during past several years. Recently 56 persons lost their precious lives as a result of an accident on the same road.
Today’s accident that occurred about 14 km away from Rajouri on this road is second major tragedy in which not only 15 persons died on spot but 23 were injured, out of which 14 persons are serious who have been shifted by helicopter to Jammu Medical College Hospital and 9 injured persons have been hospitalized in Rajouri hospital.
Chief Minister on seeing conditions of the Rajouri-Darhal road and Rajouri hospital gave on spot instructions for widening of Rajouri-Darhal road so that in future these accidents are avoided. He also announced reconstruction of modern and properly equipped sophisticated hospital in Rajouri.
. Azad released Rs. One Crore with immediate effect for widening and re-surfacing of Rajouri-Darhal road and advised the concerned executive machinery to start work with out any delay and complete it within the targeted time without effecting movement of the traffic on the road. He also released Rs. 10 crore for reconstruction and upgradation of Rajouri hospital.
Chief Minister in addition to normal ex-gratia and compensation which will be paid by the state government to kiths and kins of deceased and injured persons also released additional amount of Rs. 20,000 for each kith and kin of the deceased and Rs. 5000 for each injured person out of Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Mr. Azad expressed profound shock and grief over the bus accident causing loss of precious human lives and injuries to many others. He has also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and issued instructions to the district administration to provide ex-gratia to the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the accident. He also directed the health authorities for best medicare to the injured.
