| 50 day long Sankalp Yarta concludes | | Overwhelming response across country, claims Chrungoo | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 29 The 50- day long Sankalp Yatra, a political pilgrimage, by the exiled Kashmiri Pandits, covering nearly 50 places spanning over 11 states in the country, culminated here today. The Yatra attended by hundreds of KP activist was also joined by non-Kashmiri Pandit Organizations throughout the country. Briefing newsmen about the Yatra, the Panun Kashmir Movement President Ashwani Chrungoo said that the Yatra mainly focused on Islamic fundamentalism and terrorism, ethnic cleansings, genocide and exodus of the indigenous people of Kashmiri Pandits, the present status of the refugees, human rights violations of the minorities of Jammu and Kashmir, apart from the demand of ‘Homeland’ in Kashmir and discrimination meted out to Jammu province and claimed that the Yatra received overwhelming response from the people at the national level. Claiming that the Yatra has generated a lot of debate and discussion both in and outside the country, Chrungoo expressed his gratitude to the media for giving due coverage to the Yatra . While condemning the successive governments for their failure in meeting the aspirations of the exiled community, Chrungoo said that the issues relating to the national security in the context of Kashmir have also been well taken by the people at large. PKM has also expressed its gratitude to the Kashmiri Sikh Displaced Forum for its cooperation and commitment and said that the Sankalp Yatra has been able to make a special impact at a national level with the involvement of Kashmiri Sikh community adding that in future more non-KP Forums shall be involved in our ‘mission of national importance on Kashmir’ Prof. H L Jalali Vice President PKM, S. Prem Singh Raina President KSDF and Utpal Kaul senior PKM leader were also present at the press conference. |
