Muzafar Hussain of Srinagar made it a double gold victory on the opening day of the state level inter-district athletics meet for under-19 year boys organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at University of Jammu grounds, here today.
First gold for Muzafar came in the 800 meter race, followed by the second in the 5000 meters race in the afternoon session.
In all, athletics from 18 districts of the state are taking part in various field and track events spread over two days.
Earlier, the meet was declared open by Deputy Director DYSS, S A Wani. Prominent among others present were Assistant Director, S S Bali, district officer Jammu Jai Raj, Rajinder Singh, district officer Rajouri and Mangat Ram Sharma.
The detailed results:
800 mts race: Muzafar Hussain, Srinagar, Ist; Khurshid Hussain, Poonch, 2nd and Sunil Singh, Jammu, third.
5000 mts race: Muzafar Hussain, Srinagar, Ist; Ashwani Kumar, Jammu, 2nd and Umar Farooq, Poonch, third.
High Jump: Tayub Hussain, Rajouri, Ist; Sahil Sharma, Jammu, 2nd and Imtiyaz Majid, Baramulla, third.
Shot Put: Zaheer Ahmad, Doda, Ist; Sajid Hamid, Poonch, 2nd and Imtiyaz Majid, Baramulla, third.
Discus Throw: Manzoor Hamid, Poonch, Ist; Shabir Ahmed, Ganderbal, 2nd and Sajid Shafi, Srinagar, third.
Long Jump: Ishfaq Ahmed Dar, Budgam, Ist; Nazir Khan, Doda, 2nd and Stanzan Rabzar, Jammu, third. |
