| J&K to have sports academy-cum-complex of international standard soon: Babu Singh | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 29 Minister of State for Youth Services and Sports Mr. Babu Singh said on Saturday that Jammu and Kashmir will soon have a sports academy-cum-complex of international standard to host various mega sports events. He said that the sports facility for which modalities are being sorted out completion will instill a spirit of sportsmanship in the youth of state. Singh who is currently in Pune Maharashtra visited Shiv Chatarbati sports complex at Baliwadi to study various aspects of the mega sports complex being constructed at a cost of Rs. 350 crore. The complex will host 2008 common wealth youth games in which about 30 games will be played, he was informed. On the occasion, Mr. Singh was felicitated by a galaxy of officers from youth service and sports department of Maharashtra Government which included Director Youth Services Mr. Deshmukh, Common Wealth Youth Games representatives Col. R. P. Singh, Coach Davis Cup India Mr. Nand Paul, Rustum-i-Hind Mr. Hiresh Chandra and Bal Krishana an Indian Athlete who participated in 1960 Tokyo Olympics. Singh was assured that very soon a team of experts from Maharashtra sports field would visit J&K to share their experiences and know how among the sports persons of the state. Earlier, Mr. Singh visited an orphanage run by Sarhad-an NGO which takes care of about 100 militancy affected orphans who are staying there. Mr. Singh also had an interaction with the inmates and the administrators of the orphanage. |
