| Cricket: Big win for Kashmir Club in President Cup | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 30 Kashmir Cricket Club (KCC) Srinagar registered a big 54 runs victory over Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC) in the opening match of the President Cup cricket tournament organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at GGM Science College hostel ground, here today. Earlier, KCC won the toss and decided to bat they made 118 runs in the 38.3 overs of the 40 overs match. In reply, RCC could not chase the target and bowled out on 64 in 21.1 overs thereby losing the match by 54 runs. Rashid was highest scorer from KCC with 40 runs while Rohit made 25 runs. From RCC, Mintu was most successful bowler with four for 25 in 7.3 overs while Vijay took three for 14 in eight overs. Later, RCC batting line-up collapsed and except for Vikas Dhar no other batsman could resist the KCC bowling attack. Vikas made 33 runs. Ovais bowled extremely well taking four wickets for four runs in five overs he bowled. Rashid and Rohit were other wicket takers who shared two each. Earlier, before declaring the tournament open, the members of the organizing committee of the JKCA and the distinguished gathering observed a two-minute silence to pray for peace to the departed soul of Prof Pran Nath Malhotra, a veteran cricketer of the state, who left for his heavenly abode recently. Prominent among those present were vice-chairman of JKCA Jammu wing, Sham Saroop Kalsotra and joint secretary, Sunit Sharma.
