| Govt. committed to development of hilly areas: Jora | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 30 Reiterating the government’s commitment to develop hilly districts like Leh and Kargil, Power Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora said crores of rupees received from the Asian Development Bank are being expended in these two districts for laying and up grading a net work of roads, bridges and other infrastructure. Speaking at a public meeting at Khaltsi Jora enumerating the achievements of the coalition government during its five year rule in the state and said the prestigious 45 MW Alchi Hydel Project is likely to come up shortly, on which the work is at apace. The up gradation of 10 high schools , establishment of a polytechnic college at Leh, creation of three blocks and two tehsils, installation of diesel generators of different capacity at Lamayouru, Dha-Bema, Wanla, Mangyu, Tigar and Takshi and adding of 4.5 MW capacity generator at Leh are the other positive achievements of the government adding that Rs.20 crore has been earmarked for constitution of Leh Development Authority. The Power Minister said that it is now the responsibility of the Hill Council to execute the schemes in speedy way so that the people of the district receive the benefits of these schemes. He said that the government is keen to provide better infrastructural set up so that Leh district finds its place among the best districts of the country. |
