Experts believe that sudden change in the cultural and social life of the people in last one decade has not only changed their life style but the majority of them have changed their style of living on the pattern of western people. Perhaps the main cause to adhere the dresses of others is different serials being telecasted by some TV channels, besides insufficient knowledge of cultural heritage of the state. “The old traditions and customs seems to be no more as people are getting used to other customs which in fact are western in nature”, a post graduate student of JU said. Although government and non governmental organizations claims that they are making their efforts for saving the cultural identity of the people of the state, but these claims are seen only on papers. “The dresses which the young generation wore, is a sign of alarm for the death of our culture” said Arun Sing a government employee, adding that for all this the parents are responsible who allow their children to do so. For a while it looks good to wore clothes on the pattern of western countries but at the same time the modernization of fashion technology is responsible for all this ‘Cultural shock’ the old culture is getting It was in the past about 7 & 8 years when the people of J&K were seen in their traditional dresses. The dresses wore by them almost covered their whole bodies, but now-a-days, the culture of wearing such dresses is being influenced by the western side.
