| Gupta voices concern over persecution of Buddhist leaders | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 31 Voicing serious concern over the alleged persecution of the Buddhist leaders of Ladakh by Congressmen with the support of Police, the former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has impressed upon all the concerned to take note of the developments in this remote sensitive region before it is too late. Responding to the complaints of the Buddhist leaders of Ladakh, Prof Gupta alleged that leaders of Congress and its allies had always been indulging in discriminatory approach towards the regions of Jammu and Ladakh which had led regional tensions and created dangers to the unity of the state. ‘It is unfortunate that Kashmir centric policies of the ruling leaders of the Congress and its present and erstwhile allies opted for pampering communalism and fundamentalism at the cost of nationalists of Jammu and Ladakh’, he said alleging that secessionism and armed militancy were the outcome of the Congress policies as their despotic approach was exploited by the hostile neighboring Pakistan. Referring to the demand of Ladakhis for inclusion of Buddhi language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution, Prof Gupta assured to support the demand as also that of opening of the Ladakh route to Mansarowar which has already been taken up with the concerned quarters by the Centre. |
