| Doc, sweeper, involved in rape case terminated | | | Early Times Reporter

Jammu and Kashmir government has terminated the services of a doctor and a sweeper, allegedly involved in the rape of a girl in north Kashmir.
An official spokesman said Director of health service, Kashmir, has terminated contractual services of Dr Aijaz Rasool Bhat and sweeper Mohammad Maqbool of Primary Health Centre, Chogal, Handwara in north Kashmir.
The doctor and the sweeper have already been arrested by the police on charges of rape.
Locals residents who took to the streets protesting against the incident demanded cancellation of licence of Dr Bhat.
Superintendent of Police (SP), Handwara, Dr Haseeb Mughal said the girl, a resident of Sopore lodged a written report in Police Station that on December 27, she was raped by the doctor in PHC after she went there following acute pain in her left kidney.
The SP said a case was registered and during investigation, it was ascertained that the girl was raped by the doctor on duty. The doctor has been arrested and the statement of the girl has been recorded before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Handwara, he said. |
