CB presents challan against three forest officials
‘Salary of an employee drawn while in detention under PSA’

Crime Branch today presented a challan in the court of law against three accused persons for hatching a criminal conspiracy and drawing the salary of the forest employee for the period of his detention under PSA.
Giving details IG Crime and Railways said that employees of the Forest Department lodged a complaint alleging therein that one Bashir Ahmed Dar son of Abdul Wahab Dar resident of Khosopora Beerwa, an employee of forest department, who was detained under Public Safety Act for two years, was shown present in the department during the period of his detention and accordingly his salary was regularly drawn. Sources said on receipt of the complaint a preliminary enquiry was initiated into the matter which corroborated the allegation and accordingly a formal case was registered into the matter for detailed investigation.
The IG said that during the course of investigation relevant recorded was seized from the concerned quarters and persons acquainted with the facts related to the case were examined. Services of Forensic Science Laboratory experts Srinagar were also utilized and during investigation it emerged that accused Bashir Ahmed Dar son of Abdul Wahab resident of Khosopora Budgam was arrested on August 30,1992 in case FIR No1/92 police station CIK Srinagar and was detained under PSA and lodged in sub jail Hiranagar Jammu and was released from jail on March 14,1994. Further it emerged during investigation process that Ghulam Ahmed Nengroo son of Abdul Samad resident of Banderpora Budgam Beat Officer Forest Department in connivance with Ghulam Qadir Dar son of Abdul Wahad resident of Khosopora Budgam Forest Range Clerk, who happened to be the real brother of the accused. hatched a criminal conspiracy and managed to draw the salary of the accused for the period of his detention under PSA.
On the basis of investigation conducted and evidence available on records, the investigation of the case was concluded as ‘challan’ against all the three accused persons and charge sheet against them was produced in the court of law for judicial determination.
