| Great Softball patron passes away | | J&K Softball Association condoles demise of Dr. Mehta, his wife | | Early Times Reporter

J& K Softball Association has condoled the demise of Dr. Dashrat Mal Mehta, Secretary Softball Association of India and his wife Tara Mehta.
In a condolence meeting held here today under the chairmanship of honorary president, J&K Softball Association G. M. Dar, the contribution of Dr. Mehta was extolled and rich tributes were paid to the couple. The meeting described the passing away of Dr. Mehta as a great loss for softball association as well as for the game as the late Secretary in recognition of his patronage role had earned him the distinction of being father of Softball in India.
The meeting observed that late Dr. Mehta was a multifaceted personality who strived for promotion of softball in the country especially in Jammu and Kashmir State. The deceased has remained associated with the game for more than four decades in recognition of which he was awarded Hall of Fame Award by International Softball Federation.
Conveying sympathies to the bereaved family, the meeting prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and courage to family members for bearing this irreparable loss.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Honary General Secretary, J&K Softball Association Mr. C. L. Bhat, Mr. A. R. Shigan, Mr. Autar Krishen and Mr. Abdul Rashid
Two minutes silence was also observed in memory of late Dr. Mehta and his wife Mrs. Tara Mehta. |
