Jammu, Aug. 23: Sonam Paljor, president BJP Leh district, in a Memorandum to Governor Lt. General (Retd) S.K. Sinha, has demanded reconstitution of districts in Laddakh, as the area is very vast and inaccessible even by plane, said a release from the party. Elaborating his point in the release, he said that Laddakh distt. Comprises 3/4ths of total land area of the state, and its terrain is rough and inaccessible. It takes, the release said, three days for any administrative touring party, to travel from one end to another end of the distt. even by plane. Hence, the release demands, that Sham in Laddakh district and Zanskar in the Kargil distt. be reconstituted as separate districts as Zanskar is cut off from rest of the country for the most part of the year. The memorandum further demands, said the release, opening of the road to Kailash Mansarovar, which would open a trade route, for local population, while at the same time Opening of the trade route at Spagnor in chushul was also demanded. The release also demanded that Bhotia language, common to all Himalayan states, be included in the 8th schedule of the constitution, as also exemption of Laddakh from VAT.
