| KPs allege fraud in relief distribution | | Threatens to intensify stir | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 2 Over 1200 displaced Kashmiri Pandits took out an anti-government rally here today demanding a CBI probe into what they called a multi-crore relief distribution scam in the state. The rallyists belonged to eight mainstream organisations representing the community including Panun Kashmir, All state Kashmir Pandit Conference (ASKPC) and the Youth Wing of All India Kashmiri Samaj (YWAIKS). Led by YWAIKS President, R K Bhat, the rallyists holding playcards demanding a CBI probe into the alleged scam marched from the Relief Commissioner's office towards Civil Secretariat shouting anti-Congress and anti-Azad slogans. "We alleged that gross frauds were being committed in the distribution of cash relief and ration among Kashmiri migrants for the past 19 years and that a multi-crore scam was prevailing in the Relief Department", YWAIKS President, R K Bhat and All Party Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC) Chairman Vinod Pandit told reporters in the course of the rally. Other outfits that took part in the rally were J&K Vichar Manch, National Conference Minority Cell (NCMC), All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS), All India Kashmir Pandit Conference and Panun Kashmir Movement (PKM). The leaders of these organisations, who were allowed to meet the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, later alleged that their demands that included a probe into the scam in the relief department and encroachment of migrant properties were ignored by the Chief Minister. |
