Horticulture Deptt asks fruit growers to take precautions

The fruit growers of the Jammu region have been directed by the horticulture department to take necessary precautions to prevents fort damage to the fruit plantation as night temperature in the Jammu region has fallen considerably.
The growers have been asked to cover young and newly planted fruit plants with locally available thatching material or polythene sheets, wrap the tree trunk with gunny cloth. Smoke in orchards by burning of dry leaves etc, beside to irrigate the orchards to raise the soil temperature.
As per press release for further technical assistances growers have been asked to consult chief horticulture or district officers.
