| Kranti Dal demands Karra’s ouster from state cabinet | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 3 Demanding immediate removal of Finance Minister Tariq Hamid Karra from the state cabinet, activists of Kranti Dal today burnt down his effigy squarely blaming him for ‘anti national utterances’ at J&K Bank’s 2008 calendar release function. Karra had kicked up a storm while making a controversial statement of replacing Indian currency with separate currency after introducing self rule in Jammu and Kashmir. Led by city President, Pritam Sharma, the activists first shouted slogans against the PDP leader and later torched his effigy demanding his removal from the state cabinet. Cautioning Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad about anti- national propaganda of his finance minister, Kranti Dal said if Finance Minister was allowed to continue in office it will adversely affect the Congress party in the forthcoming elections. Leveling charges of corruption against Karra, a Kranti Dal leader said he is mis-utilizing his official powers causing loss of lakhs of rupees to the state exchequer and also appealed the Governor to look in to the matter personally and assess the functioning of the State Government. |
