Advocates abstain from Court, protest against harassment of lady Advocate

The work in the Subordinate Courts remained paralyzed here today due to the strike by the Advocates. The Advocates had gone on strike in protest against the alleged harassment and uncalled for attitude of Police towards a lady advocate.
The Secretary Bar Association Jammu, Pawan Kumar Maini said that a lady advocate namely Asha Koul, who had gone to Bishnah to appear in the Court of Munsiff Magistrate, was harassed and also not allowed by the police to enter the court complex along with her car. He said on the complaint filed by the lady advocate with the BAJ, an emergent meeting was held under the chairmanship of Vice-President Chander Mohan Sharma and decided to go on one day strike against Bishanh police attitude and filed a complaint with the Principal District & Sessions Judge Jammu about the incident.
According to BAJ Secretary, Principal District & Sessions Judge JR Kotwal has asked the Munsiff Magistrate Bishnah to submit his report about the incident that took place in the jurisdiction of the Court.
