| Christman Cup: J&K Bank enters final, blanks Forest XI | | | Early Times Reporter

The professional side of Jammu and Kashmir Bank had no match in Forest XI winning the semi-final 5-0 making it a one-sided contest in the 2nd Christmas Gold Cup football tournament being played at Mini-Stadium, Parade, here today.
It was because of the excellent game played by Badru Ibrahim, a professional footballer from Nigeria that J&K Bank made it a big win. Badru scored three goals to make it an undisputed victory for the bank on way to the final.
J&K Forest XI would have made the first goal of the match had Toufiq Ahmed not missed the golden chance came his way in the 20th minute.
In the 30th minute J&K Bank opened their account through Badru Ibrahim, who on getting a pass from Zula Hamna from left flank netted the ball surprising the advancing goal-keeper, Rashid Ahmed.
Second goal for the Bank was scored by Rohit Kumar in the 43rd minute on a pass from Badru Ibrahim providing the bank a 2-0 lead at the end of first half.
After the breather, Badru laid the foundation for the third goal. On missing an attempt to score in presence of the goal-keeper, Badru in an intelligent move passed the ball on to Zula Lalhmana Gaitt, who spared no chance for the defenders to counter and pushed the ball right into the goal.
No doubt Forest XI played nice game in the second half, but sailing on a clean three goal lead, Bank were in no mood to give up. Badru Ibrahim, who was covering the right flank, hardly missed any chance came his way. He added two more goals in similar manners, receiving pass from left flank and then pushing the ball into the net completely beating the goal-keeper in the 67th and 85th minute of the match. |
