| Div Com reviews rehabilitation status for Khour migrants | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 3 Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sudhanshu Pandey convened a meeting of senior officers to discuss present status for rehabilitation of Khour migrants under Prime Minister’s package here this evening. District Development Commissioner Jammu, Hirdesh Kumar Singh, Director (K-II) Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Rajeev Sharma, ADC, I.A.Zargar, Chief Engineer R&B and senior officers from Revenue, PDD, PHE and representatives of Army authority were also present in the meeting. Interacting with the officers, the Divisional Commissioner enquired about the pace of implementation of various programmes chalk out for rehabilitation of Khour migrants. On the occasion, the DDC informed that the first phase for rehabilitation of border migrants at Gurha Jagir village in Khour block by providing relief, efforts for their return to their native villages, tractorization of land, reconstruction of school and PHC buildings, renovation of lanes and drains, reconstruction of tube-wells, field channels and restoration electricity wires have been completed. He said habitants of 19 villages have returned to their respective villages. He said the work on second phase of rehabilitation is in full wing which includes providing of land compensation, construction of two-room tenements, providing of civic amenities, purchase of bullocks, grant for purchase of household items. Giving details of the works under hand in second phase of rehabilitation programme, Singh said that for construction of a colony, land has already been acquired by the government and possession handed over to PWD. He further said that providing of civic amenities in rehabilitation colonies an amount of Rs. 7 crore have already been released to PWD, PHE and PDD for execution of various works. He said that for purchase of bullocks Rs. 10,000 per family has already been distributed among the migrants besides a lump-sum grant of Rs. 10,000 per family for purchase of household furniture. He said that for reclamation of water logged areas, funds have been released and placed at the disposal of Chief Engineer Irrigation. The DDC also stated that for tractorization of land, an amount of Rs. 123.70 crore stands released, of which Rs. 31.64 lakhs has been disbursed so far among the concerned land owners, tillers, cultivators whose land has been de-mined by army. Other measures related for rehabilitation of Khour migrants were also discussed which includes payment of crop compensation, border fencing, water logged areas and construction of channels across fencing etc. Speaking on the occasion, Pandey directed the implementing agencies to redouble their efforts and complete the works within the time frame. |
