| J&K police launches recruitment drive in Chilly village | | ‘Naheeda dream comes true’ | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 3 Naheeda, 24, wanted to be a cop since she was a kid. A good student, she finished her graduation but her village was so remote that Naheeda never got a chance to approach the police force. Now, Naheeda's dream job has come visiting her. The police have launched an on-the-spot recruitment drive in her village Chilly in Doda district. It's good for the women, we can guard our villages and our region, this is a militancy area, it can also help to remove unemployment,'' said Naheeda Parveen, resident of Chilly Village. About 1,500 people took part in the recruitment drive for the job of police constable, out of which 200 were short-listed, mostly women. The police say it's an effort to persuade the youth to join the security forces before they fall prey to the militant propaganda. ''There will be a turnabout in the situation and nobody wants to join militancy today, people want to join police and administration instead,'' said S P Vaid, I G Jammu. The drive will empower people to guard their villages against militants. Also, such on-the-spot appointments saves both the police and the candidates precious time. |
