| Terrorism has no religion: Chaman | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 4 Dismissing the allegations of violation of Human Rights being made by the leader of the Pro-Pak Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, and some other elements to malign the Indian Army, the former Union Minister and senior leader of the BJP, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta declined to comment upon the remarks made by Geelani saying what can be said about the person who had taken the oath of the Constitution at least half a dozen times but still indulging in talking beyond the constitution. In an interview with a local channel, Prof. Gupta observed that terrorism is having no religion and pointed out that they have killed many Muslims also and indulged inhuman acts. The troops have been deployed, he said, to protect the life and property by tackling the menace of terror. If the deployed troops are not permitted to perform their duties, what is the fun of their deployment, he questioned and stressed that militants should be flushed out and the people should be provided security to as this was first and foremost duty of any dispensation. Replying to a question regarding the big victory of the BJP in Gujrat and Himachal elections, Prof. Gupta said that in the elections of the States no doubt the local issues are dominant but the national policies and perspective also play its role. In Jammu and Kashmir this perspective would also have its impact and the BJP in this state would also have the feel of victories in Gujrat, Himachal as also elsewhere as this come to be a morale booster for activists and draw attraction of the electorates in general. About the issues of Article 370 granting discriminatory status to Jammu and Kashmir, and the temple in Ayodhya, he said that these are the major issues which the party had never given up. As far as the functioning of the erstwhile NDA government at the Centre in this regard, Prof. Gupta said that BJP was just a constituent of the coalition and this government had acted in accordance with the particular programme chalked out by the NDA. As far as the Article 370 of the Constitution is concerned, he pointed out that this issue has been all along the part of the struggle right from the very beginning and the nationalists had made tremendous sacrifices under the stewardship of late Pandit Prem Nath Dogra and great leader like Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukerji to seek the removal of barriers between this state and rest of the country. Prof. Gupta further said that Article 370 was creation of communal politics and this communal approach was also resulting in discrimination against Jammu and Ladakh. The people of Jammu and Ladakh as also all other nationalists should join hands to fight out the wrong and high-handedness let loose by the Congress and its allies having communal mindset. |
