| Three arrested, ammunition recovered | | Recovery includes 1545 AK rounds and eight grenades | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Jan 5 Police has recovered a total of 845 rounds of ammunition and eight grenades from three persons after army had recovered 800 rounds of AK ammunition from a Tata sumo in Uri, on the other day. According to SDPO Uri, Mohammed Yousuf yesterday evening during vehicle checking at Check Post Sultan Daki Uri, the teams of 10 JAK Rifles recovered 700 rounds of AK 47 from a TATA Sumo bearing registration number JK05A-4533. ‘Army team later handed over the driver of TATA Sumo identified as Syed Mehmood Hussain, son of Syed Mareer Hussain of Maryian Kamal Kote and other seven passengers to Police Station Uri for registration of case, he added. During the preliminary interrogation the Police subjected three suspected passengers namely Mohammed Rafiq Bhatti, S/O Alim Din Bhatti, R/O Madiyan Kamalkote, Abdul Majid, S/O Gama, R/O Madiyan and Mukhtiyar Ahmed Sheikh, S/O Fakir Ali, R/O Madiyan to sustained questioning. SDPO Uri further revealed that on the disclosure of these suspected persons, SHO Uri conducted a raid in the house of Mohammed Rafiq Bhatti, S/O Alim Din Bhatti, R/O Madiyan Kamalkote and recovered 235 Pistol rounds, eight grenades, 386 rounds of AK ammunition and 24 rounds of 12 Bore Gun. With this recovery, the total number of ammunition recovered reached to 1545 rounds of ammunition and eight grenades, he disclosed and added Police have already registered a case in this regard and an investigation into the case is on. |
