| CS inaugurates classroom cum examination hall at SKUAST | | Dedicates one sick animal carrier to farmers | | Early Times Reporter R.S Pura | Jan 5 Chief Secretary, B. R. Kundal inaugurated classroom cum examination hall of SKUAST-campus in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Nagender Sharma here today. The class room cum examination hall spread over 2225 sq metres has been constructed at a cost of Rs.2.39 crores. The complex has four class rooms with seating capacity for 120 students and examination hall for 450 students. While addressing the gathering, Kundal has described agriculture sector as lifeline of the state and said that ‘we have promote livestock and agriculture sector which is mainstay of state’s economy’ adding that our maximum population is directly or indirectly dependant on agriculture sector. “ I see a bright future for agriculture and allied sectors in the region” he said adding that plans have already been formulated for developing all the regions of the state keeping in view of the varied terrain and geo- climatic conditions of the state. Earlier, the VC of the University said that the University in a short span of its inception has developed seven new crop varieties for the farmers of Jammu region and round the year cultivation of mushroom has been devised. He said a learning programme is being organized by the university for farmers that would help to have direct contact with them and also go a long way in solving their day to day problems. On this occasion, the C S dedicated one sick animal carrier to the farmers of R.S.Pura sub division. This will carry the sick animal of farmers from their doorstep to the veterinary referral hospital of this University for treatment. A.K Srivasatva dean of SKUAST, SDM R.S.Pura, Mandeep Kaur, DSP Puran Chand Katoch, Tehsildar Babu Ram and SHO Kuldeep Khajuria were also present on the occasion. |
