| Seminar on Dogri literature held | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 5 A seminar on ‘Myth and History in Dogri Literature’ organized by ‘Sahitya Akademi’ was inaugurated at Dogri Bhawan here today. During the two day seminar 11 papers will be presented by scholarship of dogri literature. While presenting key note address renowed scholar, Prof. Ved Ghai welcomed the distinguish gathering including Dy. secretary academy Renu Mohan Bhan, said. The importance of myth and history in literature especially the literature of regional language like dogri. She gave elaborate examples from Dogri literature where the writers had drawn liberally from history and mythology of the regions as well as from the Indian mythology. Prof Lalit Magotra while introducing the subject emphasized the sense of continuity that is present in the literature of a country which is an ancient as India. He also expressed that in order to carry the readers, the reference to the myth and history are quite vital and important. Some aspects of history do not come out that clearly while studying the subject of history but when a writer mixes plausible fiction with the real history the subject becomes much more transparent to the readers/listeners. Padamshri Padma Sachdev address talked of many anecdotes from her early childhood. She said that this age of modernization, the dogri mind is still deeply rooted in the past and simple minded dogras are quite devoted to their mythology and religions philosophy. Renu Bhan, presenting vote of thanks highlighted the various activities which the academy has undertaken in the last 5 years and also gave indication of the programme which are likely to be undertaken by the Academi in future. |
