Senior Peoples Democratic Party leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig may have regained the crown of Deputy Chief Minister but he still continues to be divested of the important position of the party's floor leader in the legislative assembly.
Muzaffar Baig was the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party's legislature party in the assembly till he was removed from the post of Deputy Chief Minister on September 1, 2006. In fact, immediately after the differences of Baig had cropped by the party leadership he was first removed as the leader of the Legislature party and then as Deputy Chief Minister.
The party had unanimously elected its senior leader and Agriculture Minister Abdul Aziz Zargar as the leader of the legislature party who still continues on this important post even though Baig was restored his position in the government as the Deputy Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti today appointed its legislator Abdul Gaffar Sofi as Chief Whip of the party in legislative assembly.
A party statement said that as desired by Mehbooba Mufti, in exercise of powers vested in her as the President of J&K People's Democratic Party( PDP) MLA, Abdul Gaffar Sofi is nominated as Chief Whip of the party in the Legislative Assembly and MLC, Nizam-ud-Din Bhat as Leader of the PDP Legislature party in Legislative Council. The order has been issued by Abdul Aziz Zargar. |
