| Parade Sports Asso objects `parking lot’ | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 6 To the dismay of the sportspersons, the security agencies and the Traffic Police have decided to convert the Parade Ground into a parking lot during the Assembly Session beginning tomorrow. The decision of the security agencies has irked the organsiers of the ongoing Twenty-20 cricket tournament and Parade Sports Association. The first casualty of this unsporting decision was that the tomorrow’s quarterfinal match between Luxmi Cricket Club and City Cricket Club has already been postponed by the organizers indefinitely. “We pleaded before the security agencies and the Traffic Police not to disturb the competition, but all the requests made to them turned deaf ears, so we have decided to postponed tomorrow’s match,” general secretary of the Luxmi Cricket Club, Vijay Saberwal told SAN. He added that the club has the permission for the tournament up to January 20 from the concerned agency, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC). “Since we have got the permission to hold the competition up to January 20, we have decided to approach the higher ups in the government to shift the parking somewhere else,” maintained Saberwal. |
