| Cooperative Bank manager arrested for embezzlement | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 6 Crime Branch has arrested Branch Manager of State Cooperative Bank Ganderbal on the charges of embezzlement of over Rs.20.44 lakhs. Consequent upon reliable information through its reliable sources that the then Branch Manger SCB Ganderbal branch in connivance with other officials of the Bank has embezzled over Rs.22.44 lakhs, the Crime Branch registered a case FIR NO 36/2007 u/s 420,468,477-A RPC and took up investigation. According to reports during the course of investigation it came to surface that Shamshada, the then Branch Manager SCB Ganderbal in connivance with Abdul Rashid Mir the then 2nd officer of the Bank of Ganderbal, presently posted as Manager Re-cancellation Head Office Barzulla, after forging the connected records of the bank diverted an amount of Rs.20,22,524 from account No CC- 57 belonging to one Sonaullah Mir son of Mohammed Sadiq Mir resident of Busar Bugh, Ganderbal to account No CDI/682 which happened to be the account of nephew of the said lady manager and operating through him thereby fraudulently misappropriated the said money of the innocent client. On the basis of investigation conducted and evidence available prima-facie case of misappropriation and embezzlement was made out against the accused Abdul Rashid Mir the then 2nd officer of Jammu and Kashmir State Cooperative Bank Ganderbal presently posted as Manager Re-cancellation Head Office Barzulla for thorough interrogation. The investigation of the case is in progress and some more disclosures are expected. |
