| 30 Bangladeshis held | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 6 At least thirty Bangladesh nationals were arrested by the army near International Border in Makharwal area, near here, this morning. Official sources told News Agency of Kashmir that the Bangladeshies, including women and children, were arrested when they were trying to exfiltrate to Pakistan side. Giving details defence spokesman told NAK that troops noticed suspicious movement along the border at Bakshi Da Kotha BOP, during the wee hours today. A close vigil was kept on the group of people, who were moving towards the border. He said that when it was ascertained that the suspects were trying to cross the border, troops swung into action and arrested all of them. They were later handed over to local police for further interrogation. Thousands of Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested in last two years in Jammu. They are accused of entering into the state illegally and later trying to cross over to the other side of border. Police believe that a Punjab based notorious criminal is motivating the poor Bangladeshi nationals that they would be sent to Pakistan, where they believe that they can earn batter, without being noticed. "After minting money from them, these Bangla nationals are being left near the border and asked to cross over of their own", a police officer said adding, "Almost all the time they land up in custody". |
