| Landslide kills labourer, 3 wounded | | | Early Times Reporte Jammu | Jan 6 One labourer die and three others were injured, when they were buried alive in a landslide at Kandi Canal Project in Gandoh area of Doda district, Sunday afternoon. Farooq Ahmed son of Abdul Rashid of Karal, was found dead by the rescuers, who managed to save the lives of three more persons. One of them was identified as Yasir Ahmed son of Rafiz Ahmed of Thatri. Reports reaching here revealed that the labourers were working at the construction site of Kandi Canal Project, where a landslide triggered, this afternoon. Police, CRPF and local villagers rushed to the spot to rescue the trapped labourers, eyewitnesses told News Agency of Kashmir. They said that rescue team had to take precautionary measures as it was not known that how many labourers were under the debris. After more than an hour, rescuers recovered body of one of the labourer, while three others were found alive. The injured were shifted to government hospital, Thatri, sources told Early Times. Two of the injured were said to be minors. However, officials were unable to confirm the exact details of the incident. |
