| Ceiling for irrigation sector enhanced to Rs.135 cr: Dilawar | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 6 Planning Commission has sanctioned a grant of Rs.135 crore for augmenting irrigation water facilities for the farmers of Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, Planning Commission had put a ceiling of only Rs. 50 crore for this purpose. This was announced by the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Horticulture, Mr. Mohammad Dilawar Mir while addressing a public meeting in Suchetgarh, R. S. Pura in Jammu today. Member Parliament Mr. T. S. Bajwa and MLA Mrs. Shanti Devi also addressed the public meeting. The Minister said that coalition government would pool all its resources to improve the living conditions of the farming community. He said in pursuit of this goal, Rs.100 crore Technology Mission has been implemented in every nook and corners of the state to provide basic facilities to the farmers for promotion of agriculture and horticulture. He said government was also abreast with the burgeoning unemployment problem in the state and soon after the Budget Session of Assembly, a realistic recruitment drive will be launched to fill up all available vacancies in various government departments on war-footing. He also highlighted the achievements of the coalition government and said that massive developmental and public welfare schemes were launched to propel development scenario for faster progress and stability of the state. He said peace on borders came during coalition dispensation. MP Mr. T. S. Bajwa cautioned the people about exploitive and hollow slogans of NC and appealed for strengthening the hands of coalition government. He said highest number of Human Rights violations in J&K were recorded during NC regime. |
