'9789 centres to immunize 18.55 lakh children’

The first round of Pulse Polio Immunization of 2008 was launched today by Minister for Health and Medical Education Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma at Miran Sahiab R.S Pura and Samba. He administered Polio Drops to children at health institutions of these areas.
Minister of state for Health and Medical Education Peer Mohammad Hussain, Director Health services, Jammu, Principal Medical College, Jammu, Senior Officers and doctors of health department were present on the occasion.
Addressing after launching the drive Health Minister said that 18.55 lakh children are being administered by pulse Polio drops today for which 39176 personal of health department have been deployed at 9789 Pulse Polio Centers across the state.
He said healthy society guarantees a developed nation for which children are future builders, adding that Government has initiated various measures for the better health care facilities of the people across the state. He said Hepatitis-B vaccines have been also kept available at all health institutions for free vaccination to the children below one year age.
Sharma exhorted upon the medical fraternity to work with missionary spirit for the best health care of the people especially living in far off and hilly areas. He said efforts should be intensified for organizing more and more health awareness camps in such areas and people should be educated about the preventive measures of both contagious and non contagious diseases.
Health Minister called upon the people to come forward and availed medicare facilities kept available by the Govt. for them in Health Institutions free of cost and ensure immunization against dreaded diseases to safeguard their children.
Minister of State for Health Peer Mohammad Hussain in his address said that Government is committed to provide better health care facilities to the people adding that various reformative steps have been initiated in this regard. He said “we should pay our focused attention on healthcare of our wards and impart quality education so that they could compete the challenges of modern world”. He said Pulse Polio drops have been kept available in all health institutions for the facilitation of the people adding that parents should bring their children in hospitals for administering these drops so that their wards could be prevented from this dreaded disease.
