| Tunneled path, 'aarti' complex to come up at Vaishno Devi | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 6 To tackle the increasing inflow of pilgrims, a tunneled path and a three-storeyed 'aarti' complex are to be built at the shrine of Vaishno Devi in Trikuta hills of Jammu and Kashmir. The proposal has been formally approved by the Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) with a view to hosting as many as one crore pilgrims who are expected to visit the shrine in the coming years. "We have to create state-of-the-art infrastructure to meet the future target of one crore pilgrim turnout. For this, we are making a tunnelled path operational and setting up a three-storeyed 'aarti' complex at the cave shrine for free movement of devotees in addition to the existing tunnels", a senior board official said. For this purpose, another tunnel - which would be the third one as two already exist is being built for the free movement of the pilgrims at the shrine, they said, adding that the Chairman of Board and state Governor Lt Gen (Retd) S K Sinha had recently approved the mega plan that would cost several crores. "In this direction, a presentation of the setting up of the third tunnel has been made to Governor in New Delhi", they said, adding the design of the tunnel would be of 'M' shape. The blueprint of the project has been finalised and this also includes re-activation of one old tunnel and construction of the three-storeyed building at cave shrine, they said. Two tunnels already exist at the shrine complex apart from old route for the passage of devotees to have 'darshan' of the 'Mata' inside the cave. |
