| Act has hurt sentiments of Sikh community | | Jaipur incident evokes strong sharp condemnation | | JAMMU AUG-23 The ugly incident at Jaipur about cutting hair of a 17- year Sikh youth has evoked strong condemnation by various Sikh organizations in Jammu and Kashmir. Several organizations in their separate statements issued here today have strongly condemned the gruesome incident and warned of dire consequences in case the Rajasthan Government failed to take action against the accused goons. To protest against the incident, Deshmesh Youth Organization today organized a peaceful protest procession denouncing the act of goons and threatened to launch nation wide agitation if the concerned state government and the Central government failed to arrest the accused within 24 hours. Shiromani Akali Dal Jammu and Kashmir in an emergency meeting held here today has strongly condemned the alleged cutting of hair of a 17-year Sikh youth at Jaipur. Kehar Singh Vice President SAD and Member DGPC while expressing serious concern over the incident has said that it is highly deplorable and has hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community. He has appealed to the Sikhs and other legal experts to move an application in the High Court of Rajasthan to get the criminals punished under section 302 of IPC and also stressed upon Rajasthan Chief Minister to act and punish the guilty for their misdeeds. Saying that the community can not tolerate such heinous acts, General Secretary SAD Dayal Singh Wazir demanded immediate action by the concerned government adding that any failure on their part to act against the goons will force the Sikh Community to chalk out its own course of action for which the state government would be responsible. ‘Sikh community can go to any extent to save its honour and dignity’, Wazir said, adding that Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister have already been appealed to intervene in this matter and get all the six accused arrested and put behind bars for this heinous crime. Balak Singh, Vice President SAD, Jagit Singh , Jagbir Singh and Kesar Singh also addressed the meeting. District Gururdwara Prabhandak Committee in its meeting held under the chairmanship Amrik Singh while condemning the incident alleged that Police instead of taking cognizance of the offence committed by the six eve- teasers unnecessarily intervened in the protest of Sikh community and made the situation worse. DGPC has demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and awarding severe punishment to the accused. J&K Gurdwara Prabandhak Board, Sheromani Akali Dal (B) Sikh Welfare Society ,Sikh Nawjawan Sabha Simbal Camp,Akal Pura Ki Fooj and Sikh Sabha Upper Gadigrarh in their statements have said that this act of the goons have hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community. While condemning the incident, Chairman GPB Tarlochan Singh Wazir has warned that in case the concerned government failed to punish the offenders, the Sikhs of Jammu and Kashmir will move towards Jaipur and launch a mass movement against the government for which the entire responsibility would lie on that government. Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President while condemning the incident has appealed the Sikh brethren to maintain peace and tranquility and has also demanded stringent action against the miscreants.
