| Indo-Pak wrestling at Katra on Jan 19 | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 7 The Reasi Wrestling Association in association with Jammu and Kashmir Wrestling Association is organizing an Indo-Pak friendship wrestling tournament at the holy town of Katra on January 19. To be held in a traditional form of wrestling on mud Akhara, the event is being conducted to give impetus to the indigenous game of wrestling in the state. The event is organized under the aegis of Indian Wrestling Association. This was disclosed to the media persons by general secretary of the J&K Wrestling Association and an international wrestler, Dushyant Sharma. “A team of ten top Pakistani wrestlers and an equal number of those from India shall be their in the tournament. We also looking into the possibilities if a couple of state wrestlers are accommodated in the competition,” Dushyant told SAN reporter. He further said that the Pakistan wrestlers have already arrived in India as part of their month-long tour of the country. The newly formed unit of district Reasi of the Wrestling Association is high in enthusiasm to host the international event at the holy town of Katra. “We are expecting a crowd of over 20,000 wrestling lovers from within and outside Katra for the day-long event to be held at Vivekanand Stadium,” said general secretary of the Reasi Wrestling Association, Ashu Magotra. He said that efforts are on foot to mobilize the people for the mega event. “It will be a memorable event in the history of sports at the holy town and to generate extra interest among the competing wrestlers, the organizing committee has also decided to award cash incentives to those fighting for top bouts,” said chief patron of the Association, Kuldeep Magotra. |
