| Director horticulture reviews programmes | | | Early Times Reporter

To review the progress of horticulture development programmes under implementation in Jammu region were discussed in a meeting of horticulture officers here today.
The meeting which was chaired by the director horticulture, M.S. Qarba, stressed upon the officers present in the meeting to initiate action for identification of potential areas, selection of sites, layout and pit-digging for the ensuring spring season and plantation especially in far flung and snow bound areas of the Jammu division. Progress of fruit plantation in the University campus of Bhaderwah was also discussed with the chief horticulture officer, Doda.
Qasba emphasized that the farmers awareness camps should be organized in all the districts so as to ensure training of farmers in various horticulture operations viz. training, pruning, fertilization and use of pesticides. The chief horticulture officers were advised to have close liaison with the concerned MLA’s as well. He also impressed upon the officers to work in their respective jurisdiction more efficiently and have close contact with the orgchardists so that departmental programmes are implemented in its right perspective. |
