| Gupta for fair distribution of Assembly seats | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 7 Pleading for the fair distribution of Assembly seats to each region of the state to bring an end to the ‘political fraud’ being played with Jammu region, the former Union Minister and senior BJP leader, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has assailed the Congress led coalition of the state for making no mention about distribution of seats in the Governor’s Address to the joint session of the state legislature which began here today. Commenting upon various features of the Address, Prof Gupta regretted that the appointment of Delimitation Commission has been overlooked although it was one of the major issues incorporated in the CMP adopted at the time of forming coalition government in the state and alleged that the issue was being ‘deliberately put under the carpet’. ‘Under a conspiracy political slavery has been thrust upon the people of Jammu and Ladakh by taking advantage of so-called special status’, he said adding ‘the time has come when the regional disparities have to say goodbye once for all ’for the unity of the state. He said though there are many burning issues which have been totally ignored in the Governor’s Address, but the question of fair distribution of Assembly seats pertaining to the basic rights of the people have been ‘subjugated for the last six decades under a well thought conspiracy’. |
