Farooq seeks free movement across LoC

National Conference Patron and Member Parliament Dr. Farooq Abdullah has said that the people of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir should be free to move across the LoC on the basis of an identity card issued by the respective Deputy Commissioners. He said there should be no restriction on movement across the LOC for the state subjects of Jammu and Kashmir irrespective of whether they have relatives on either side of the LOC or not.
Talking to the Acting Pakistan High Commissioner to India, Dr. Abdullah said the movement of the state subjects across the LoC will help to strengthen the bonds of friendships between the two countries and also will reinforce the mutual relationship between the people of either side of the LOC. He suggested to the Pakistan High Commissioner to impress upon the Pakistani establishment to take radical steps to improve the relations between India and Pakistan and work towards creating better understanding and sense of confidence among the people of the two Nations for a long lasting peace in the sub-continent as also in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr. Abdullah who visited the Pakistan High Commission this morning to record his condolence message on the gory sad death of Begum Benazir Bhutto, said that India wished and prayed for a stable Pakistan where democracy and the democratic norms finds a strong foothold.
Dr. Abdullah said a stable Pakistan is very important for the stability and peace in not only in the sub-continent but also in the entire South Asia. Dr. Abdullah said the people of the state of Jammu and Kashmir want a dignified sustainable solution to the Kashmir imbroglio and that is only possible when Pakistan is stable. He said so all the people of Jammu and Kashmir pray for stability and internal peace in the Pakistan.
Dr. Abdullah on his visit to Pakistan High Commission was accompanied by Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pardesh – Mulayam Singh Yadav and Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh – Chandrababu Naidu, Former Chief Minister of Karnataka K. Bangarappa and Samajwadi Party MP– Amar Singh.
The leaders recorded their messages of condolence in the condolence book placed at the Pakistan High Commission and paid their respectful homage to the departed soul.
