| Rallies welcome first day of Assembly session | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 7 Jammu city witnessed a series of anti government protest rallies on the first day of the assembly session in winter capital while aggrieved unemployed youths and west Pakistan Refugees staged protests out side the state assembly, the political parties JKNPP, BJP and National Conference staged protests in the Civil Secretariat Complex. Unemployed engineers under the banner of the All J&K unemployed Engineers Association Jammu staged a protest against the callous attitude of the state government alleging its had failed to come true to its assurances given to the unemployed engineers and staged their protest since last 279 days demanding absorption under Rehber-e-Tamiraat. The protestors under the leadership of Rajinder Kumar Sharma dodging the security arrangements staged a protest right outside the Civil Secretariat. The unemployed engineers surprised the police when they unfurled their banners and started raising slogans in support of their demands and even lay down on the ever busy road to protest. They appealed the members of both houses including deputy chief minister and chief minister of state to implement the assurance of absorption of unemployed engineers under the pattern of Rehber-e-Scheme given on Feb 6 last year on the floor of assembly by the state government. The police however intervened and cleared the road for traffic within few minutes. The security agencies and police deployed were put to on their tenterhooks when they heard that that unemployed ITI trained Electricians and West Pakistan Refugees too are likely to stage anti government protest in support of their demands. To the respite of the security deployment the huge rally of the west Pakistan Refugees under the banner of Kranti Dal and leadership of Labha Ram Gandhi and Anaan Sharma peacefully marched through the various markets of the city after its start from the Press Club Jammu today after noon. The ralliest comprising men, women and youths were raising slogans against the state and union government for betraying the displaced people since the partition of 1947 and post turmoil.. The ralliest demanded their rights to property and extension of right to use their franchise vote. Meanwhile the main opposition party in the house the National Conference as was expected from the party today staged protest outside the state assembly against the state government targeting its for its failure on various fronts. National Conference legislators continued their protest outside legislative assembly where Governor was addressing the members from PDP and Congress and others in the assembly conference Hall. To surprise of the all especially the PDP and Congress, the Prof Bhim Singh chairman JKNPP took the lead and staged a walk out while the traditional proceedings of the assembly sessions were on with the Governor’s address. Elected members of the JKNPP followed their chairman alongwith the solitary representation from BJP in the shape of Jugal Kishore from Nagrota. These two protest restricted the traditional Governor’s address merely to the Congress and PDP occasion as National Conference, BJP and JKNPP staged a walk out against the coalition government alleging it for failure to the expectations of the people and leaving the chief minister and others to accredit the coalition for multidimensional achievements on the developmental government. |
