| Dangal at Panthal on Jan 14 | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Jan 8 Shri 108 Swami Nitya Nand Wrestling Association Panthal, in association with Jammu and Kashmir Indian Style Wrestling Association, is holding Panthal Kesari Vishal Dangal on January 14 at Panthal in district Udhampur. A decision in this regard was taken in a meeting which was chaired by president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma. Tilak Raj, Rama Kant, Ram Padha, Ved Parkash Padha, Kushal Kumar Magotra, Naryan Dutt, Sheshu Naggar and Sunil Mengi were among others who attended the meeting. Around 80 wrestlers from J&K and other North Indian states are going to contest for different bouts in this day-long event, a handout issued here today said. “The notable feature of this dangal is that it is being conducted regularly at Panthal for the last 108 years on the eve of Maker Sankranti,” Shiv Kumar Sharma told SAN. The winner of the main bout would be rewarded with a cash prize of Rs 11,000 in addition to `Silver Gurj and Patta’. “The organizing committee has decided to provide a chance to every wrestler willing to take part in the contest and for that matter shall get handsome cash prize in addition to free accommodation, to and fro fare and meals,” said Sharma. |
